Melissa has recently transitioned from a career in biotech to realize her passion to help others feel and move better. She discovered Pilates in 2012 while recovering from a climbing injury. Not only did she find Pilates a safe and fun way to stay in shape, but it improved her posture and eased her chronic back and foot pain. She is living proof that if you move better, you feel better!

Melissa is fascinated with biomechanics and human movement patterns. She has successfully completed the Body Harmonics Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training program on all apparatus, as well as two Advanced Specialist diplomas in Functional Anatomy, Biomechanics and Post-Rehabilitation. Her work with clients in the group and private setting incorporates Pilates in a functional approach to help relieve pain, improve athletic performance, and simply to move through life with ease.

Melissa holds an MSc in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Her research focused on genetics and speciation. Most recently, she was a science editor at Genentech, where she helped scientists write regulatory submissions to the FDA for cancer drug approvals. In addition to her biology background, she has completed the following movement education:
